I am an Ethiopian American living in Dalian, China.

The main characters I play in my life include: Mother, Wife, Writer, Chef, Traveler, Weird Foreigner, English Teacher, and The Black Girl.

Needless to say, I am prone to role confusion.

My son was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Even though it is not his proper name, I call him Buchela.

My daughter was born in Dalian, China. I refer to her as Dinbit on this blog.

Buchela in Amharic (Ethiopian) means puppy. And we all know in some parts of China, people eat'em for lunch; hence the name of my blog "Don't Eat My Buchela(s)!"... my two little puppies.
