Being Home: Take 4
Lives are shared. People remember what you did or didn't do years after events have passed. Relationships feel permanent, not in a stagnant boring way but in a manner that is cadenced and reassuring.
Sunday afternoon I attended a mahiber meeting of girls with whom I went to school.
We sat around a cafe and talked, complained, told stories as we drank tea and soda.
They passed around the Buchela and commented at how big he has gotten. Not long ago, before my little dude made his entrance into this world, they used to touch and feel my swelling belly and he used to kick. Their hands are not new to him.
Later, when I thought about how long we have known each other, it occurred to me we will reach the 20 years mark in September of 2007.
