Loving Ethiopian Food
Part of passing on my heritage to my kids is ensuring not only they learn to speak Amharic but that they also develop attachment for things Ethiopian.
Part of passing on my heritage to my kids is ensuring not only they learn to speak Amharic but that they also develop attachment for things Ethiopian.
Not only did American Easter sneak up on us this year but I had no idea the Ethiopian one was on the same day!
Apparently, once every five years, the dates for the two Easters falls on the same day.
Silly me, I was still counting on the Ethiopian one to being next weekend.
Ah well. I will still make doro wot :)
Outside of this one surprise, the holiday weekend was great.
This year we did our Easter egg hunt in a beautiful little private park.
The kids listened to clues and ran to find the candy stashes.
Spring is not yet here in Dalian and the outside is still --frozen in winter -- devoid of life.
Sickness has been bouncing from one person to another in our house. It started a few days after we landed in Dalian a couple of weeks ago and it has gone on since then.
Buchela has really started to feel like an older brother to his sister.
For as long as I remember, books have been an integral part of my life.
This year, we wanted to get into the cookie making tradition in earnest.
Just like last year, we gathered our children and went to the French restaurant in town for a nice big breakfast and waited for Santa to show up.
We have finally gotten in the holiday groove around here!
