At the Monkey Forest - Ubud, Bali

When we set off to visit Ubud's famed Monkey Forest, I was a bit nervous about the monkeys' behavior.

I even considered waiting until Babba arrived on Saturday before I ventured out there.

I had read they sometimes bite.

But then I threw cation to the wind and went anyway.

And you know what?

They were pretty mild.

Sure, once in a while a random male monkey bared his teeth at spectators.

One even tried to steal my Starbucks cup (gasp!) twice!

But in general, I thought they were well-mannered.

And someone fell in love with the creatures as I knew he would.

The rest of us were pretty dazzled too.

Sewyew's Gravatar I don't blame you for feeling nervous. Those goddamn monkeys work in gangs and are incredibly strong for their size. Here are couple of tips for the future:
If it ever seems like the monkey/s are pissed off and start baring their teeth, show them your palm, open your mouth like you're saying "O" WITHOUT show your teeth and slowly back off. Never bare your teeth to a monkey as that is a call for challenge to them. Don't smile at monkeys. lol

One more thing, say way from goddamn apes, for real. Chimps are about 5 times stronger than any man for instance. A male chimp can lift about 800lbs with one hand. They tear you apart limb to limb and eat you
(yes they eat meat. Monkeys are their favorites) They are evil. They work in gangs too and even have some sort of warfare among clans (they literally organize raiding parties and stealthily move into their enemy territory to wreck havoc). They are known to be mean and vicious for no apparent reasons.

Oh mother nature.
ps: mom says hi
