The Art of Letting Mess Go

Sometimes, the art projects the kids do is confined to paper.

Other times, it migrates off the paper to other places.

And the whole experience morphs into a tactile experimentation.

I am lucky to have fake wood floor.

[I know - so not fashionable!]

Water doesn't ruin it.

Paint comes off easily.

It is basically hard to do a permanent damage - while painting or otherwise - to my floors.

So, I let them go at it with no fear.

And afterwards, I don't even bother to wash their bodies.

[I know - lazy parenting here!]

But if every time I have an art session I worried about giving them a bath afterwards, I probably wouldn't do as many.

The sessions would be shorter and with much less freedom.

So, I chose to care less.

And I am getting better and better about it.

Besides, art is meant to be displayed!

Even on hands.

feet.

and floors around.

Nancy's Gravatar That's awesome!! I feel the same way. Messes are a part of the creative process. Mimi is all about bathing in the experience quite literally. I figure if I don't let her do this now - she's going to grow into one of those adults who sit in their office, classroom, or wherever her place of employment may be, and smears paste all over her. Ever see Billy Madison (Adam Sandler)?

Betta' now than later.
