Kite Season

It is good and windy now days here in Dalian.

Perfect for flying kites.

Since moving to China, we have gotten into kites.

You can not go to any park here, big or small, and not see people with kites on a windy day.

It is not just children either.

People of all ages participate.

And our little dude enjoys it.

I don't ever remember running into kites in the U.S.

Not even once.

I wonder if it was just North Carolina or if Americans are just not into it.

Maybe it seems a little boring?

Standing around holding a string?

Because I thought that too when I first saw it.

But it is actually quiet fun once you get in the groove of it.

Addis's Gravatar Kite flying is a favorite sport for some in the Northwestern part of the US. They even have Kite flying clubs. When we go to the ocean shores we see them flying all the time. I have tried unsuccessfully to fly one a few times. BTW, just watched the movie Kite Runner on DVD. It is a great story about kite flying, friendship and life. Parts of it were filmed in China.

Yemi's Gravatar Addis, I guess, having only lived in the south, I just never saw kites in the U.S. I need to read or watch the Kite Runner. I hear it is excellent! Thanks for the recommendation.
