Mae Hong Son city and Mae Sariang, Thailand

Before we looped back to Chiang Mai, we had two more small Northern cities to see.

Mae Hong Son was our first stop.

Our hotel had a beautiful garden.

The star attraction was a little pond full of lilly pads, very common in Thailand but this one was particularly well done.

We met an older couple who were traveling around Asia.

They seemed happy.

Fast forward 20 years, I want to be just like them.

Mae Hong Son has a small lake in the middle of the city.

Right on the edge of it is a beautiful temple.

The night market, street food, restaurants, and performances happen around the lake area.

In the day time, it was wonderfully quiet.

Next to the lake area is a little exercise spot.

Nothing strenous, all about balance.

How very Zen!

--------------

Buchela's best friends in Mae Hong Son: Fish in the lake.

He enjoyed feeding them pop corn which can be bought from vendors by the lake.

We noticed the vendors were special needs people.

Lasting impression of Mae Hong Son - A calm little town full of charm.

----------------

We didn't spend much time in Mae Sariang.

Our digs there were run by little old couple.

But the beds were hard. How very Asian of them!

The town was very small.

We were most amused by what we found at the reception desk of another hotel.

Asked Paul's mom if she wanted to take a picture with that and surprisingly, she refused.

Buchela's best friend in Mae Sariang - small fish we found in the garden of our guest house.

Lasting impression of Mae Sariang - too little time there but mighta been too small for a lot of exploration anyway.

On our way back to Chiang Mai we stopped by a roadside restaurant to eat lunch.

We don't even know the name of the little town but we will remember the experience.

Our waiter was a cranky old woman who took our order and then went to sleep on a bench with her two dogs.

She didn't like us.

She didn't like we came to her restaurant.

The woman in the picture below wasn't amused either!

But to her annoyance, Buchela made friends with one of her dogs.

Then we were on our way.

Dinbit spent much of her non napping time eating her favorite fruit.

And giving it back to me once she sucks the juice out.

Like a good little mama, I ate what she gave back and gave her a fresh piece.

But sometimes she preferred the phone.

We were happy to be back at our cute guest house in Chiang Mai.
