Huston, We Have Communication!

Buchela's teachers are all really sweet.

There is one particularly wonderful teacher towards whom he gravitates.

She also seems to take a special interest in him.

Yesterday, I received a very sweet and thoughtful note from her.

I have actually lived in China long enough to understand what she is trying to say.

I didn't even have to re-read the note.

Wuro's Gravatar I discovered your blog by accident and I must say it's refreshing. You kids are so addorable. Love their names too. Oh, this letter from bushela's teacher is so funny but I think I understand what she is trying to tell you. Don't accompany Buchela during class time?? That is how I understood it.

Mesay's Gravatar Is she asking you out???
# Posted By Mesay | 8/22/08 7:26 AM
Mamitu's Gravatar Mesay, I think she is nicely asking his family not to accompany him so that he can independently interact with the other children. And may be take a nap after the afternoon Chinese class? Hey, I am just trying to read between the lines. It remined me of a friend who was an engineer, whose mother sent a maid who had a small stove, cooking utensils and food with her when my friend went to her first field trip out side of Addis Abeba. Needless to say that was her last field trip.

Tsion's Gravatar LOL that letter was very clear. I translated it to mean...

"Back off and let us do our job, you should be busy taking care of his little sister. Why isn't he able to take naps with the other Chinese kids? You made it very difficult for us in August, to teach him anything, so starting September please just drop him off and pick him up. He will adjust once he realizes you're not watching after him and you will adjust once you see your happy boy come home in one piece. Yours, 10-4 over and out"

Thanks for sharing that letter, broken English or not her message was clear as a bell. How can you leave that cute face though, it's gonna be hard for you.

Yemi's Gravatar Mesay, Tsion, lol.

Mamitu, yeah, that is basically what she is saying.

OH, no thank you. I love my camera. This is never going to happen again so I want to have pictures of it and record it. That is what blogging is about.

As for the employees and other kids, don't worry, there are plenty of other parents taking pictures too. They just don't stay with their children (with the exception of one) as I do.

gonTe's Gravatar Wow - I understood it on the first read too! but I have never been to China. Fortunately or unfortunately, I have worked (and still do) with a lot of chinese people and they speak exactly the way this letter is written. Frustrating at first but you get used to it real quick, I suppose....

Yemi, you're spending way too much time at the school :)
