Spot a North Korean

During our brief Yalu River cruise in Dandong I was able to take some pictures of North Koreans. There were so many times I wanted to yell, to wave, to try to communicate but I knew that was not a good idea. Equipped with binoculars and a camera, I tried to see if there was anything I could learn from their faces.

These people see the glitz and the wealth across the river, a short distance away, on a daily basis but have to stay put on their side because if they try to swim across, they will be shot on the spot.

They are simply not allowed to leave their country.

Can you imagine?

Girlie's Gravatar looks like none of them (well based on the pix you've posted at least) wants to escape really. they looked contented.

zgent's Gravatar Yemi, you sure are a daredevil or did you figure you are out of their rifle range . How wide is the river? If people dare to surf from Cuba to US then, as the saying goes, there must be a Bale crossing because they could not do it through Bole.

C's Gravatar I dunno - just looking it seems like such a bland and colorless life but I suppose if that's what you know, then that's what you know. How are you woman?

S's Gravatar Isn't it amazing tho? We don't choose where we are born.. YiGermegnal. and i find myself asking .. is there a reason why I was born as me? or is it all by 'chance'? But I am me, and I guess one could say I am lucky enough to have many possibilities ahead of me and ask 'what am I going to do with those possibilities?'
